what you can do
Ways YOU can help the feral cat population1
- Donate to the ASPCA or your local humane society. Even a donation of $20 can cover the costs associated with one sterilization surgery.
- Spay and neuter your own cats, and keep them up to date on vaccines.
- Share your time with TNR or other programs who need volunteers. It doesn't necessarily require monetary donations, but donations of time.
- Don't feed or encourage the colonization of feral cats.
- Only support a colony if you can take care of each cat. Make sure each cat is sterilized and monitored for health issues.
“As part of living in a civilized society, it is our obligation to look after those who are weak, sick, or powerless. Our responsibility includes our domestic animals, whom we took from the wild and made dependent on us.” Dr. Margaret Slater
